Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center, Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees consists of voting persons appointed by the County Commissioners of Pueblo County, the City Council of Pueblo, and the Board of Trustees of the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center. The total number of Board members will be determined by the current Board of Trustees, but will not be less than fourteen and the Board will strive to maintain a 2:2:3 ratio between the appointees of the County, the City and the Arts Center, respectively.
One position is held by the President of the Arts Associates, the volunteer corps of the Arts Center. Additionally, the Pueblo County Commissioners, Pueblo City Council, Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and the Latino Chamber of Commerce each may have a non-voting board position.
Members of the Board of Trustees serve terms of 3 years each, which shall be staggered so that the Board will elect five each year, the Board of County Commissioners of Pueblo County will select no more than four in any one year and the City Council of Pueblo may select no more than four in any one year, other than to fill vacancies. One year terms apply where specified.
The Nominating Committee presents its nominations to the Board of Trustees for persons to join the Board—elected Trustees then vacant or expiring at the end of the year.
One or more additional nominations from the floor shall be accepted at the meeting if made by a Trustee in attendance and seconded by another Trustee in attendance. One or more additional nominations may also be submitted in writing to the Board Chair at least 10 days before the meeting. Any nominations submitted in writing shall be signed by a Trustee as the nominator and by a second Trustee as the seconder.
The election of Trustees for full terms shall take place at a duly-scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees. At such meeting, the Secretary shall distribute to all Trustees present printed ballots containing, in alphabetical order, the names of all persons nominated by the Nominating Committee and by petition to serve as Board-appointed Trustees.
In voting on the persons nominated, each Trustee shall have as many votes as there are positions to be filled by the Board. Those nominees receiving the largest number of votes shall be elected to serve for the next term.
In the event that there are only as many nominations as there are positions to be filled, the Board may, upon proper motion from the floor, dispense with ballots and vote on the entire slate of candidates by voice vote.
