Southeast Colorado Heritage Center and Museum
The Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center and Museum (SCHCM) seeks to preserve, promote, and interpret the heritage of Southeastern Colorado, thereby fostering an understanding and appreciation for the plurality of its people.
Center for American Values
Pueblo, Colorado is the location for this innovative undertaking – and rightfully so – Pueblo is known as the Home of Heroes. The community boasts the unique distinction as being the home of four Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. President Dwight D. Eisenhower once remarked, after bestowing the Medal of Honor upon Raymond G. “Jerry” Murphy, “What is it in the water out there in Pueblo … all you guys turn out to be heroes.” The Center's mission stems from the desire for all generations to understand and never lose sight of sacrifices made by civilians and veterans alike to elevate America as the greatest Country in the world.
InfoZone News Museum
The InfoZone News Museum is an interactive news museum. The InfoZone News Museum's mission is to provide broader knowledge of news and information. The museum focuses on journalism, the First Amendment, historic news and current events that affect our world. The museum serves to promote the joy of reading and writing, to preserve and interpret the archives and artifacts of The Pueblo Chieftain and provide educational programs and exhibitions that enhance the Pueblo City-County Library District.
Pueblo Medal of Honor Memorial
In honor of Pueblo’s four Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients, the Pueblo Convention Center built the "Home of Heroes" Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial Plaza. The four larger-than-life, sculpted and bronze statues flank the main entry and welcome you to the Pueblo Convention Center. The Medal of Honor is the highest military award that can be bestowed upon a member of the United States Armed Forces; Teddy Roosevelt lobbied for one but never received it, and General George Patton said "I'd sell my immortal soul for that Medal."
Art and Soul
Enjoy a stroll in the cultural heart of Pueblo! This non-profit outdoor sculpture project promotes art as an important element in arts education, cultural pride and community redevelopment. Located in the heart of Downtown Pueblo near the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, Buell Children’s Museum, Pueblo Convention Center, and the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk, the Street Gallery features works by Colorado artists. Except for pieces purchased for permanent placement, each sculpture is exhibited for one year, most sculptures are for sale. Pueblo Levee Mural Project
The Arkansas River levee is the canvas for the Pueblo Levee Mural Project‚ a 3-mile-long piece of artwork that holds the Guinness Book of World Records’ distinction as being the world’s largest continuous painting. Not bad for something that began 30 years ago as isolated graffiti and was not embraced by the community at large.
Memorial Hall
Memorial is professionally managed by Global Spectrum and in the heart of Historic Downtown Pueblo. With 1,600 seats, state of the art lighting and sound system, Memorial Hall is the premier entertainment facility in Pueblo. Currently undergoing a $10 million renovation and expansion Memorial Hall is expected to open June 2013.
Damon Runyon Repertory
The Repertory offers a variety of entertainment including live theatre, children's theatre, adult and children's workshops, dinner theatre, and murder mysteries.
Hose Company No. 3 Pueblo’s Fire Museum
The building at this location is the only remaining firehouse in Pueblo that housed horse-drawn fire equipment and one of two remaining that has the famous brass pole still intact. It was “home” to the valiant men who served with the distinguished Hose Company No. 3. The building was erected in 1881 and the last fire alarm was sounded on March 9, 1979. The building continues its fire-related service to the community through the backing of a fire museum. A wealth of information and pictures, as well as antique fire engines, hose carts and other memorabilia are on display.
Sangre de Cristo Arts Center
With seven rotating galleries, the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center is a must-see stop for art lovers. The Arts Center boasts several art collections that embody the American Southwest, including: the King Collection of Western Art, the world’s largest repository of work by Printmaker Gene Kloss, and a growing collection of historic and contemporary Santos and Retablos.
